It is likely to remain unclear what happened. We believe it was really just the end of a 10year effort and not driven by some government. A simple defacement was unlikely and we now know where this is going. Clear is, that TrueCrypt is a fragile product and must be based on more solid ground. We start with offering a download of the Truecrypt file as is, and are organizing a solid base (FOSS) for the Future.
Phase 2 of the security audit is completed and there are no signs that there are are any serious security problems within TrueCrypt 7.1a. We believe that there needs to be an Open Source, Cross-plattform full-disk encryption option.
Currently Thomas Bruderer and Jos Doekbrijder have set up these pages and started the pure-privacy association to take the FOSS idea also into the financials of OS development. We hope to get other supporters soon.
We appreciate all the help offered, we are currently contacted on different channels, which is great, but also hard to keep up with. Any support offers are welcome, please contact us via email
